Assassin’s Creed Shadows takes place in Japan during the turbulent Sengoku period and follows the intertwined stories of Naoe, a young Iga shinobi, and Yasuke, a historical African samurai who became a powerful warrior under Oda Nobunaga.
This isn’t to say that Yasuke and Naoe make playing Assassin’s Creed Shadows feel like two entirely different games.

At the beggining of the game we meet the masked figures. A cabal of powerful people seeking to influence Japan, and various historical figures like Oda Nobunaga, who are targets or key figures in the conflict.
The ultimate antagonists in the game are the Knights Templars, who are pulling the strings behind the Shinbakufu and the chaos in Japan. Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ best features include a dynamic four-season world with shifting environments, a deeply integrated light and shadow system for stealth and combat, the ability to play as two distinct protagonists (Naoe and Yasuke) with unique playstyles, and an upgradable hideout with new buildings and mechanics, all set within a visually stunning feudal Japan.
